Toni&Guy is an  international hairstyling company that  consists of salons, hair products, hairdressing academies, an Italian-style café chain, and specialized companies  related  to  the  salon  business. The  Toni&Guy hair  design  brand reflects current trends in fashion and  style, emphasizing training, education, and  innovative products. Known  for their  fashion-forward approach to styling  hair,  their salons  are popular for the latest trends. They reflect marketing trends in the music industry, especially  hip  hop,  and  place  their  hairstyles within  an  urban, edgy overall look. Their hairstyles are put into collections and shown at fashion shows. They  are also known for creating some  popular looks  like the  mink, the  mouvant, the la vera, and the undercut. Toni&Guy’s commitment to excellence and expertise in the  hairdressing industry has  made  it one  of the  most  recognized hairstyling brands in the world.

History

Toni&Guy was  founded in  London in  1963  by Italian  brothers Toni and  Guy Mascolo, with  brothers Bruno and  Anthony joining later. Their string  of salons focused on  hair  demonstrations, hair  fashion shows, and  a vision  for branding the Toni&Guy name. The  first hair academy  for training stylists opened in 1983. The  first  salon  in  the  United States  opened in  Dallas  in  1985.  Toni&Guy are located in  41  countries and  operate 402  salons  and  28  educational academies, which  train  close to 100,000 hairdressers annually. They  have their  own books, magazine, TV  station, and  professional hair  care  products. Numerous awards and  achievements have been  won  by the  company for hairdressing and  product excellence.

Products

Toni&Guy sell hair  products and  have their  own makeup line. The  TIGI line includes  Bed  Head, Essensuals, and  Classic.  Catwalk,  S-Factor, and  Hardcore are popular brands. The  signature hair  products are divided  into  three  areas:  curly, straight, and  textured hair.  They  include shampoos, styling  gels, and  sculpting tools;  makeup products include eye shadows and  liners,  lipsticks, foundations, and  powders. Their brand philosophy is  seen  in  their  products: cutting-edge modernity that  positions the  brand within  fashion and  style. Unilever purchased TIGI hair products for $411.5 million  dollars  in 2009.

Charity

The Toni&Guy Charitable Foundation was started by Toni Mascolo in 2003. It is seeking  donations to renovate the Toni&Guy ward of the Variety Club  Children’s Hospital in London. The  Terrence Higgins Trust, the  United Kingdom’s largest HIV  charity,  is also  supported by the  foundation. The  Fondazione Oasi  Regina Degli Angeli in Italy, which  houses victims of abuse, is another beneficiary of the Toni&Guy Charitable Foundation.
