Healthy Diet for December 10 – Tradition, Tradition

Holiday breads, turkey with all the fixins’, Grandma’s veggie casserole bubbling in the oven: What foods conjure up your own family memories?

The family table is more than a place to eat together. Family food traditions bind families together, especially during the holiday season. As part of your holiday celebrations, honor family food traditions.

  • Start recording your own parents’ recipes. Serve them often.
  • Create a family food history. Invite your extended family to bring recipes from parents and grandparents. Compile them in a family cookbook. Great holiday gift!
  • Serve family dishes at your holiday table. Invite your relatives to bring family dishes and their stories to share around the table.
  • Set the table with family treasures: Grandma’s dishes, Dad’s carving set, children’s table decorations, even family pictures.
